Charlotte Hungerford Hospital (CHH) recently accepted a $2,000 donation from the Torrington Big Y World Class Market to benefit the hospital’s Pink Rose Fund. Since 2007, Big Y has raised over $2 million through its annual Partners of Hope campaign and, to date, has donated over $60,000 to the CHH Pink Rose Fund.

Money is collected from Big Y stores in Connecticut and Massachusetts to be distributed to individual communities and charities in the communities they serve for breast cancer screening, education and treatment.

CHH Breast Health Nurse Navigator Tammy Rouleau, RN, and CHH Early Detection Program Outreach Coordinator Rosa Hilario received the check from Big Y Torrington Store Manager Jim Martin and Rep. of Employee Services, Bill Hayes, to use in their efforts to help local women diagnosed with breast cancer.

“This generous gift is a much-needed contribution to this essential fund for women in Northwest Connecticut. We are extremely grateful for the support Big Y has provided to help local women facing the challenges of breast cancer. said Tammy Rouleau, RN.

Since 1996, the Pink Rose Fund has provided women in Northwestern Connecticut with comprehensive, coordinated access to breast cancer and women’s health services, programs, and screenings. Additionally, a certified nurse navigator provides clinical expertise and guides patients through diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up across the healthcare continuum.

“Thank you for all you do for breast cancer awareness, research and support. We know our employees and customers appreciate your efforts,” said Big Y Torrington Store Manager Jim Martin.
