Iredell Health System is pleased to welcome Gary Butler, MHA, BSN, RN, CNOR, as the new Director of Surgical Services.
Butler has over 30 years of nursing experience and, for the past six years, has served as Director of Operating Room and Director of Surgical Services. Butler entered the medical field because he wanted to make a difference in the lives of others.
“Iredell Memorial is committed to providing high quality care to the citizens of Iredell County and surrounding areas. I have lived in the community for most of my life, and accepting this position at the Iredell Memorial Hospital was like coming home, ”he said.
As Director of Surgical Services, Butler will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Surgical Department. He hopes to lead the Surgical Services team in an ever-changing healthcare environment while supporting the mission, vision and values of the Iredell Healthcare System.
“I am delighted to be working for a health care system that recognizes the importance of allocating its resources to the needs of people in the community,” said Butler.
Butler received an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration from Mitchell Community College, followed by his second Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Louise Harkey School of Nursing at Concord. He then received his BSc in Nursing from Gardner Webb University in Boiling Springs, North Carolina, before earning his MSc in Health Administration from Pfeiffer University in Misenheimer, NC.
When not caring for patients, Butler enjoys woodworking, home improvement projects, spending time with his family, and traveling to the beach and the mountains.
