Supply chain shortages frustrate Phoenix air conditioning business

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) — Supply chain issues are impacting air conditioning companies in the Valley. Donley A/C and Plumbing President Mike Donley says there are new problems every day when it comes to parts. “It’s definitely harder than it’s ever been in my 30+ year career,” Donley said. “We could be waiting days for it to ship to us across the country or if it needs to be manufactured, it could be weeks or months.”

Donley says the more expensive the unit and parts, the harder it will be to find an exact part. Previously they would just send an email and a part would arrive within 24 hours. Now they have to make multiple calls a day just to find a part. If it takes weeks or months to arrive, they try to find a workaround to fix the problem. “In some cases, you’re out of luck until your parts arrive. It’s always frustrating not being able to take care of customers. We’re in the business of taking care of customers,” Donley said.

Donley says sometimes they’ll lose a job if another company can find a part and replace it faster. With record heat on Friday, he knows it’s critical to fix air conditioning issues as soon as possible. Click/tap here for tips on keeping your air conditioning running smoothly.
